The following are suggested steps for preparing to participate in the event.

1. Required: Sign Up for the Challenge, starting September 23rd 2024

• [ ] If you don’t have a Github account yet, go to Github.com and create an account there first.
• [ ] Navigate to the Hacktoberfest homepage: Hacktoberfest
• [ ] Sign in with your personal GitHub account on the Hacktoberfest website.
• [ ] Fill out the registration details on the Hacktoberfest site when prompted.

Once you are signed up successfully, you are ready to start participating in October!

2. Optional: Review our Open Source Ideas list.

• [ ] Add new ideas to this list that you have.
• [ ] Add your thoughts and details to existing ideas that excite you.

3. Optional: Learn about Git.

• [ ] Begin to get comfortable through the suggested courses in Beginning Git Topics.
• [ ] Work through Git Immersion, a free guided tour through the fundamentals of Git.

4. Optional: If you are experienced with Git and Github, consider volunteering as a Hacktoberfest Admin!
